I was contacted by the guys at PokerSavvy Plus and asked to do a review of their site. They hooked my up with an account and since then I’ve been watching there videos. Of course, I started out by watching their full-ring content, which there isn’t all that much of unfortunately. Funnily enough, in the first video I watched which was Isaac Haxton’s 200nl full-ring and I was actually a player at one of the tables. It must have been recorded really early this year, when I sucked even more than I do now. Not only was it strange to vidw someone else playing me, but it was eye opening to see how much the game has changed since then and who the regulars were back in the day.

Anyway, I ended up watching a few of Isaac’s videos and I was very impressed with his thought process, particularly post-flop. He always had very good reasoning for what he was doing and even managed to convince me to change my opinion on a couple of spots from what my inital gut feeling on the hand was.

They seems to have a lot of multi-table tournament content, which doesn’t really interest me all that much, but I’m definitely going to stick around and watch more of the 6-max videos they have. Something that really appeals to me about their content is that it isn’t all PokerStars and Full Tilt material. They have videos played on the iPoker and OnGame networks as well and as someone who can play on those sites I’m definitely going to check them out.

Hopefully you enjoy my heavy breathing during this one. This was a pretty uneventful video, there weren’t that many interesting hands, but I decided to post it anyway. I made a few small mistakes, mostly because I was concentrating on talking and got rushed for time. The resolution is quite crappy so it might be hard to make out specific stack sizes and stats, if you guys would like I can render a larger file to make this possible. Post a comment if you’d like me to do this.

Thoughts on hands would be good too, particularly the big KK hand I would like to know what your play would have been if raised on the turn or river and also the river value bet sizing.

Edit: New download here (173MB)

Last night I decided to sign up to Stoxpoker, a coaching web site with videos and forums. I read reviews of all the major video coaching services and they seemed to be the best. They have a few full ring videos, of which I have watched a couple so far. I’ve learned a lot from them already, even though most of them are at stakes a little higher than I play and also there are very few crunch decisions in an hours worth of 2-4 tabling full ring. That being said, I think I will get a lot out of the 6-max and sit and go videos as well.

Once the first few players at full-ring fold, I really need to play more of a 6-max game and I feel like if I can learn a little from these videos and maybe practice a bit at lower stakes, it will improve my full-ring game to no end. With the sit and go videos, my goal for this month is the play a hundred or so sit and go just to break things up a bit, so I might pick up some things there.

This was nearly a month ago now, back when I was at 100NL. I feel like my play has come on a lot since, but overall this video is not too bad. I only cast a glancing eye over it before I uploaded it though. The AA laydown feels kind of wrong post the event, but at the time I remember just being so sure it was beat. On reflection, maybe he really could play AQ like that, his turn bet was kind of weak. Anyway, let me know your thoughts!
