Pre-flop entirely standard, a very good flop for our hand, there is a flush draw, but that isn’t really of a concern here. I like to bet my standard c-bet size here which would be $6-$9. Side note: When I raise UTG and get called in one spot out of the blinds I’m pretty much always c-betting this board because a) this flop hits a good part of my opponents perception of my range very hard and b) it is a flop that is very unlikely to have helped my opponent.

Turn: 4♥ ($21, 2 players)

He called the flop and the flush got there, but that isn’t changing my view that we are ahead in this hand. Of course a flush is part of his range here, but he can also have any kind of ace here. $17 is a good bet size here, we don’t have a heart in our hand, we very likely have the best hand it makes sense to bet and bet with this kind of sizing. The villain raises us, which is kind of curious, he could also have AK, a set, flush, a big ace with a heart, Ax with the A of hearts or be making a move. He has $18.35 left after raising so if we are going to play it makes sense to raise all-in. Here is our equity calcualtion for a VERY conservative range of hands, I mean it is very unlikely that he has AA/KK here since you would expect him to raise that pre-flop. Even so, being a slight dog here with the money alright in the pot it is fine to get it in. In reality I think we probably even have equity of over 50% in this spot anyway.

Essentially 3 limpers in front of us and we are on the button with a suited king, I think limping behind is perfectly fine here. I’m not so sure about raising, think I’d rather do it with a more connected suited hand, rather than one where my kicker may get me in trouble. If I had a reason to believe the blinds were aggressive I’d fold, but limping behind is my default play here too.

We flopped a king, but monotone board here. Even if the flop wasn’t all one suit I’d be very careful proceeding with this hand, in fact I’d probably fold if someone in front of me bet out, I might take a shot if it was checked to me. Here though, I agree with the check behind.

Okay, I think folding would be the best play here, a bet and two callers in front it is very unlikely that top pair with an eight kicker in a limped pot on a monotonal flop is good. Potentially you are drawing completely dead, at best drawing to a few outs. Hero opted to call here though.

Well, if we had outs on the turn we might have just hit. Thankfully, the action on the river makes our play very easy. This is a basic call given we only need to be good about 10% of the time or more to make a profit. Raising here would achieve nothing but getting called by better hands most of the time. My opinion is that the hero made a bad call on the turn and got very lucky in that the river hit one of his outs without making the board four flush and the opponents in front of him gave him a trivial river decision.

If the blinds are tagish and the limper has a good fold to cbet % then this is a standard raise, if not then it become more marginal. In this case I don’t have that information, so I am not in a position to judge if this is a good isolation raise or not. Over 73 hands fold to cbet data maybe won’t be that meaningful, but it can be helpful I think.

We’ve flopped top pair and a gut shot and have no reason to think we don’t have the best hand or very good equity even if we don’t. I can’t see any situation where I wouldn’t follow up my pre-flop agression with a flop bet here. I would bet $14 here.

Our opponent has checked to us twice, it is perceivable that we raised pre-flop with a big ace and checked behind on the flop and now we are betting for value. So I like betting from that point of view, but that does mean it kind of turns our hand into a bluff, whereas betting the flop we would have been doing it for value I think. When we get called we almost certainly don’t have the best hand, but we may have outs.

River: 6♦ ($43, 2 players)

We hit one of our outs, so we can beat one pair now at least. raising here will only get called by better hands, calling is the best given we only need to be good 16% of the time. Our opponent does look like he is trying to get to showdown relatively cheaply, so his hand is probably weak, but maybe that is reading too much into the bet sizing of a player with these kind of stats… I don’t think this hand was played all that badly by the hero, but i would be interested in the pre-flop raise situation and also we he didn’t c-bet the flop, which as flops go for his hand was pretty good.
