Melbourne Storm vs. New Zealand Warriors Match Report

Melbourne Storm New Zealand Warriors

32 defeated 18

The Storm played their first game of the season tonight. The game was at Telstra Dome, the site of their Semi Final victory last year, but not their usual home ground. A very good crowd of 20,000 was in attendance, probably would have been more had it not been for the 35c+ degree temperatures.

The Storm were pretty sharp, despite it being the first game of the season, the heat and their interrupted preparation having to go to England for the club championship. Billy Slater’s first half hat-trick of tries set up the game and was electric to watch. I really feel that if Billy plays the way he did last year and doesn’t make the State of Origin team this year he will have been robbed. There is a slight injury concern with Ryan Hoffman, but other than that it was all plain sailing in our quest to go back to back.
