88 On the Turn

This hand wasn’t played by me, but I think it is very interesting nonetheless. I’m not quite sure the best way to go about these spots. What is your play on the turn here when it is checked to you? Do you bet, planning to fold to a raise and shut down on the river or do you check behind, planning to call a lot of river cards? Or do you take another line?

  • Yo, thanks for the comment. I’ve linked you up on my site as well.

Your post brings up an interesting spot that seems to come up a lot. Usually, I just check behind, but I’m really not sure if that’s better than firing again. For me, it usually depends on speed tells and how dumb the villain is, but I think you can certainly make an argument for both betting and checking behind.
