Omaha/8 At Commerce Casino

I’ll keep this blog short, I don’t want to get too over technical or over analyse the way I played. Commerce Casino was in the middle of nowhere, it took me two hours to get there using the bus and train. The poker room setup was the best I’ve seen, heaps of tables and heaps of games. It wouldn’t surprise me if it was the biggest in the poker room in the world and it was relatively well run. I had some lunch and as I was eating they were calling for players for $3/$6 Omaha High/Low. I haven’t played Omaha/8 (a variation of poker where each player is dealt four cards) in ages and I couldn’t think of anything better than taking a break from Hold ‘Em. It is a long month ahead and I don’t want to burn myself out.

Long story short, I played a three hours session, played one hand to showdown; I was 80% favorite going into the river and lost a big pot. I played with excellent discipline, didn’t make a mistake and that is all that I can ask of myself. I ended the session down $110, I would call that a victory considering the way that things played out. I am treading water at the moment playing poker, hopefully that means a big rush is around the corner (when I hit Vegas please). In an effort to maximize my karma I gave up my seat on the train for an old lady, every little thing counts.
